Mechanical Engineer

The Sr. Mechanical Engineer works on projects involving identification, creation, and/or validation of replacements for mechanical components and mechanical sub-systems. With minimal technical support from others, the Sr. Mechanical Engineer develops, evaluates and proposes replacement strategies considering form, fit and function equivalence, labor requirements, lead time, costs, volumes and possible effects on other systems. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer independently creates solutions that may involve replacement of complete mechanical sub-systems. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer cooperates with other engineers and personnel as needed to create packaged solutions in the form of direct replacement components and retrofit kits. These retrofit kits may be cross-disciplinary, containing mechanical and electrical parts (including new product designs), programming, assembly, documentation, field resources and/or other installation support. - Manages, prioritizes, and reports progress on multiple Sustaining Engineering projects - Coordinates the commercialization of replacement solutions developed through Sustaining Engineering efforts - Analyzes properties of mechanical components and mechanical assemblies - Analyzes performance of mechanical systems - Explains reasoning, constraints, and risks of proposed solutions to others - Operates within established procedures (documentation control policies, engineering change controls, etc.) - Understands and promotes the Sustaining Engineering departments mission and processes to others within the organization - Develops and executes testing for proposed solutions - Creates relationships and uses resources within and outside organization to expedite the delivery of solutions - Participates in reviewing proposed solutions from other members of the Sustaining Engineering department - Documents and communicates overall system level concerns or questions related to replacement strategies - May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

Project Manager

This position is responsible for planning, monitoring, and supervising all facets of the SunPower System installation process for a particular project, maintaining liaison with design team and customer regarding project progress and changes. Manages external engineers, and sub-contractors. Works closely with internal design, administration, finance, and supply chain groups to insure that projects are brought in on-schedule and on-budget and insuring 100% customer satisfaction. May personally manage small to medium size project or work under a more senior Project Manager on multiple small to medium projects or one mega project. • Responsible for fulfilling Company quality goals on assigned projects. • Responsible for insuring 100% Customer Satisfaction on assigned projects. • Coordinates resource availability and operational needs to ensure that established goals are met. • Responsible for managing cost and schedule goals of assigned projects through project closeout. • Leverages knowledge of system delivery milestones to capture reduced construction costs wherever possible. • Identifies opportunities for and initiates change orders, as required. • Performs risk-analysis /forecasting for assigned projects in order to minimize negative impact on Company • Responsible for overseeing document management for assigned projects. • Ultimately responsible for compliance, safety, and performance on all assigned projects. • Directs work of one or more assigned Construction Managers on a per project basis. • Responsible for effective oversight of multiple subcontractors and temporary leased installation labor. • Negotiates and manages sub-contracts. • Is corporate representative to the Customer, permitting agencies, and other project personnel.
